Saved MOTDs
When you use the share feature, motd.my stores the server name, MOTD text, optional favicon, creation time, and update time. Shared links are public to anyone who knows the URL.
Edit authorization
A random edit token is created on the first save. The browser stores that token locally. The server stores only a cryptographic hash, not the original token. Visitors without the token can view a shared MOTD but cannot edit it.
Server lookups
When you import an existing Minecraft Java server, motd.my connects to the public hostname and port you provide. Private and reserved network addresses are blocked.
Abuse prevention and logs
Short lived, pseudonymous rate limit keys are generated from network addresses. Standard web server logs may temporarily include request metadata for reliability and security. motd.my does not sell personal information.
Your choices
Do not place secrets or personal information in a public MOTD. To request removal of a shared MOTD, use the contact channel associated with the domain registration and include the public share URL.
